Emerald Diadem of the Duchesse d'Angoulême

Marie Thérèse de Bourbon (only surviving child of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI) became the Duchesse d'Angoulême when the monarchy was restored. During this period of time she owned this diadem. It consists of no less than 1,031 brilliants at the total weight of 176 carats as well as 40 emeralds weighing 72 carats - all set on a silver base. It was created by Frédéric Bapst in 1820 and was valued at 50.000 francs. Originally, it was a gift from Marie Thérèse's husband. It is now exhibited at the Louvre.
